Project | Plateau |
Year | 2012 |
State | Prototype |
Type | Furniture |
Plateau is a point of departure for vertical thought on objects within space. The desk breaks free from the standard desk height of 72 cm, exceeding it upwards and downwards, making use of voids otherwise not utilised. Its construction goes back to a simple visual idea: In order to shorten the desktop, it is bent upwards. The resulting vertical surface is cut into strips and positioned horizontally along the vertical axis.
Although Plateau only takes up 0,4 m² (73 x 60 cm) of room horizontally, it offers an effective workspace up to 1,6 m² (273 x 60 cm). The desktop extensions are positioned along a space-frame like perforated profile. The free configuration options of the modules enable a playful, individual workplace organisation. The scope of Plateau ranges from the home office and open plan office to shops and libraries.
